Lazio have received a double injury blow during their away contest against Genoa on Monday, but they’re hoping to regain the services of Manuel Lazzari.

The club’s midfield woes have been well-documented, as five first-team midfielders were left at Formello while Maurizio Sarri’s main host travelled to Liguria. Luckily for the Aquile, they managed to overcome this crisis by registering a 3-0 victory. Nevertheless, this result wasn’t without cost, as two full-backs weren’t able to continue after picking up knocks.

On the half-hour mark, Adam Marusic provided Taty Castellanos with the assist for the second goal, but hurt himself in the process. After the break, Luca Pellegrini made a successful ball recovery, but ended up overstretching his muscle.

According to Il Messaggero, the two full-backs won’t be available for Saturday’s match against Marco Baroni’s struggling Torino. They’re expected to undergo tests in the coming hours, while hoping to avoid a long layoff.

Nevertheless, the source provides encouraging news about Lazzari who missed the last three games with a calf problem. The 31-year-old right-back has been running with the ball in training, so a call-up against the Granata shouldn’t be ruled out. The Italian’s return would offer an additional option for Sarri, as his only available full-backs at the moment are Nuno Tavares and Elseid Hysaj.

The manager was reportedly urged to drop Lazzari from his Serie A squad list to make way for Toma Basic, but he insisted on axing Fisayo Dele-Bashiru instead, explaining that the latter will be out of action for a longer period.
