Lazio began their preparations for the new campaign as they held their first training session of the pre-season at Formello on Monday morning.

Maurizio Sarri oversaw his first session since resigning from his post in March 2024. The squad he found is almost identical to the one that Marco Baroni had at his disposal last season, mainly due to the transfer ban imposed by COVISOC, which prevents the club from making any new signings this summer.

But despite the lack of new faces at Formello, fans and observers are curious to know how the manager plans to field the players in his 4-3-3 system. Although the 66-year-old will have several weeks of testing before making a final decision, the first mini-match offered a few clues.

La Lazio Siamo Noi revealed the manager’s selections, as he split the squad into two teams. It should be noted that Mattia Zaccagni and Patric remain absent as they continue to recover from their respective surgeries, while Matteo Guendouzi only returned to Rome on Monday after being granted a few extra days of rest due to his participation in the UEFA Nations League finals.

Green Team: Provedel/Furlanetto; Hysaj, Gigot, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Vecino, Rovella, Dele-Bashiru; Isaksen, Dia, Noslin.

Red Team: Mandas/Renzetti;  Lazzari, Gila, Provstgaard, Nuno Tavares; Belahyane, Cataldi, Basic; Cancellieri, Castellanos, Pedro.

Substitutes: Marusic, Ruggeri, Pinelli and Sanà Fernandes.

The red team took the lead through Taty Castellanos who skipped past Ivan Provedel before slotting the ball home. Afterwards, Adam Marusic came in for Elseid Hysaj in the right-back slot. The green team equalized through Boulaye Dia who pounced on a mistake from Nuno Mendes. Nevertheless, the red side prevailed thanks to Danilo Cataldi’s winner.
