Tottenham Hotspur endured a disastrous season, which was somewhat rescued by their Europa League triumph. Despite the positive end to the season with the club winning their first major trophy since 2008, the Spurs board decided to part ways with manager Ange Postecoglou on June 6. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Thomas Frank is the leading candidate to replace him, following the rejection of another intriguing target.

Fabrizio Romano Reveals Tottenham Rejection News

Fabrizio Romano revealed the sacking of Postecoglou on his socials: “BREAKING: Ange Postecoglou has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur. Decision made by chairman Daniel Levy.”

Whoever Levy brings in next, it’s a massive decision that he needs to get right. The official statement from the club regarding the departure of Ange: “The Board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place. Following a positive start in the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games. This culminated in our worst-ever PL finish last season. At times there were extenuating circumstances – injuries and then a decision to prioritise our European campaign. Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club’s greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph.”

Regarding the search for a new manager, the latest update from Romano read: “Tottenham are prepared to advance in talks with leading candidate Thomas Frank in the next days. Spurs also approached Roberto De Zerbi in the recent days… but the Italian head coach rejected as he wants to stay at Olympique Marseille.”

Thomas Frank to Tottenham Hotspur

Frank has done an impressive job at Brentford, and if he moves to Spurs, he will be eager to win the players over quickly. During his time at Brentford, he has shown an ability to help develop players, as seen by the development of Bryan Mbeumo and Mark Flekken.

If Tottenham secures him as their next manager, they will have a manager who is known for his excellent in-game management and player development.
