Fabio Capello was full of praise for Inter Milan and their new manager, Cristian Chivu, in his latest interview.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the 79-year-old praised Inter’s progress under the Romanian coach.

Cristian Chivu has shrugged off the early disappointment and is now on his way to making Inter strong contenders on multiple fronts.

Indeed, the 44-year-old has banished the memory of two consecutive Serie A defeats in early September.

Seven victories in a row, including a 4-0 rout of Royale Union SG on Tuesday, have renewed confidence at San Siro.

Furthermore, the Nerazzurri are flying high in Serie A after winning their last three matches.

With only AC Milan above them in the standings, Inter look set to fight for the Scudetto until the final day.

Meanwhile, Chivu’s side must now focus on the upcoming showdown against defending champions Napoli.

Despite Napoli’s dip in form, Chivu knows better than to underestimate Antonio Conte.

Fabio Capello Heaps Praise on Inter Milan

“Inter has already burned the timing,” Capello said. “They’ve found balance.

“The other evening, after suffering for about twenty minutes partly because Chivu had changed so many players, they settled and then dominated.

“I counted at least eight clear goal-scoring opportunities.”

Moreover, Capello believes that Marcus Thuram’s absence will not derail Inter’s scoring potential in Naples.

Instead, he backs Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny to pick up where they left off.

“Of course, and let’s not forget that they are supported by a certain Lautaro.

“I’m impressed by Pio’s growth. In terms of game vision, movement, and depth, he’s the perfect replacement for Thuram.

“I know that Bonny tends to be considered Thuram’s deputy, but I remain convinced of my opinion.”

While slamming Napoli for their woeful performance against PSV Eindhoven, Capello hailed Inter for getting back on track.

“Inter is going in the opposite direction,” he added. “Sommer recovered excellently after his mistakes against Juventus.

“They don’t step onto the pitch with the arrogance of last year; it caused tremendous damage.

“But Chivu has worked brilliantly from this point of view. With him, Inter has become insatiable again.”
