Inter Milan legend Christian Vieri is hoping that the club doesn’t make a hasty decision on Cristian Chivu, in case the latter starts his stint on the wrong foot.

The Nerazzurri have recently parted ways with Simone Inzaghi. The Italian manager spent four years at Appiano Gentile. He won one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies and three Italian Super Cups.

The 49-year-old also led the club towards two Champions League finals, before falling short in the final hurdle.

Inzaghi felt this was the right time for him to move on. Hence, he left Inter to join Saudi Pro League giants, Al-Hilal.

For their part, the Nerazzurri replaced the former Lazio manager by handing the reins to Chivu.

The Romanian is a former Inter star who famously won the treble with Jose Mourinho. He also worked with the club’s youth ranks for several years, before taking over at Parma in the final stretch of the previous campaign. He was able to help the Emilians escape relegation.

Based on limited experience at the top level, Chivu’s appointment has been considered a major bet on the club’s part. The former Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Lazio bomber believes that Chivu might require some time to adjust to the top level.

Christian Vieri Wants Inter Milan To Give Cristian Chivu sufficient Time to settle

The 52-year-old reckons that the biggest clubs in Italy tend can be quick to wield the axe when the results don’t arrive. However, he’s hoping that Inter can be the exception by adopting a more patient approach.

“Inter wanted a young coach with fresh ideas,” noted the former Italy star in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“Chivu is one, and he has what it takes to succeed. But he would need more time than Inter, Milan, and Juve are usually given in Italy. So I hope they give him that.”

Inter fans will be hoping to avoid this dilemma altogether and enjoy a solid start to the upcoming campaign under the tutelage of the new boss.
