Tottenham Hotspur have completed a deal to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
Spurs have started the new Premier League season well and there is a sense of optimism around the club, especially with some players like Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr, Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha excelling under new head coach Thomas Frank. The Dane has made a positive impact at N17 with his tactical flexibility, game plan and game-management, showing he can stay at the job for a very long period of time.
The Lilywhites have looked much more organised, compact and disciplined in the opening few games of the season, with a better balance in midfield and variety in attack than under former boss Ange Postecoglou. However, the change in the dugout means that some players have become out of favour, with the possibility for exits before the window slams shut at the start of next week.
One player that looks to have no future at Tottenham is Manor Solomon, who has not played under Thomas Frank this season. The winger is certain to leave White Hart Lane before the end of the window as he is not part of the new gaffer’s plans.
Leeds United wanted to keep Manor Solomon on a permanent basis after his crucial role in their promotion campaign. The Israel international was excellent in the second half of last season, scoring the crucial winner against Plymouth Argyle to help Daniel Farke’s side win the Championship title.
However, having signed Noah Okafor from AC Milan and brought back Jack Harrison from loan, Leeds United do not look interested in a move for the diminutive winger anymore. Nonetheless, a new club has registered their interest in the Spurs outcast, with another Championship move potentially on the cards.
According to a report from The Star, Leicester City have registered their interest in Solomon’s services. They are set to rival fellow Championship club Sheffield United for the Tottenham attacker, as they each aim to bolster their squads to win promotion back to the top flight.
Leicester City have enjoyed a good start to the season, winning three of their four games and lie third in the table. In contrast, Sheffield United find themselves rooted at the bottom of the standings with no points registered in the opening three games. It is early days in the season and there will be plenty of twists and turns as the league progresses, but we might very well see two teams having contrasting fortunes.
Solomon is a player wanted by both the Foxes and the Blades after his last season’s exploits in the Championship, where he scored 10 goals and added 12 assists for Leeds as they edged out Burnley on goal difference to win the title. We might see a bidding war erupt between the Championship duo, and should that happen, it would only help us get a decent fee from the Israeli star’s sale.
