Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have officially announced the signing of Denmark international Jesper Lindstrom on a season-long loan deal from Napoli, following his season on loan in the Premier League with Everton in 2024-25.

Lindstrom joins Wolfsburg on an initial loan deal until the end of the 2025-26 season at a reported cost of €1m, with an option to buy clause included for a fee of €12m.

The 25-year-old will wear the no.19 shirt during his first season back in the Bundesliga.

Official: Lindstrom joins Wolfsburg from Napoli

“Jesper has experience of playing in the Bundesliga and at international level,” said Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz.

“We’re signing a dynamic and very versatile player who can operate in almost every position across the midfield. We’re delighted that he’s already part of our group and will be working with the team at the training camp.”

A move to Wolfsburg marks a return to the Bundesliga after two seasons away for Lindstrom, who left Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023 to join Napoli in a €25m deal.

Lindstrom had provided seven goals and four assists in the Bundesliga during his final season with Eintracht, before going on to have an underwhelming, goalless season in a Napoli side that finished the 2023-24 season in 10th place.

He was then allowed to leave Napoli after one season in order to join Premier League side Everton on loan, where he would go on to make 25 top-flight appearances before having his season cut short due to surgery on his calf.
