Liverpool have money to spend this summer. And that's before you even factor in the money they will receive from outgoing players. That will almost certainly include Darwin Nunez who Liverpool bought from Benfica for $80m plus add-ons - including $5m more when Darwin makes 50 appearances for Liverpool.
He is stuck on 49 games so it'll be interesting to see Slot's team sheets for the final 4 games of the season. According to AS, Liverpool are prepared to let Darwin go for a "bargain" $45 million with Atletico Madrid being a potential suitor.
Arne Slot and the highly respected sporting director, Richard Hughes, have been planning the summer spending spree for months. The two most obvious needs are a striker and a left back - not necessarily to immediately replace the aging Andy Robertson, but certainly to rotate with him next season before stepping permanently into the role.
While Newcastle's Alexander Isak is everybody's first choice striker, the $150m price tag designed to scare teams off may do just that. As alternatives this morning's rumors throw up some intriguing names.
Liverpool (along with Arsenal, Spurs and the Saudi Pro League) are looking at Bayern Munich's 28-year-old Kinglsey Coman, according to Caught Offside. The France International could be available for $40m. An alternative is Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké, with Liverpool said to have watched the 22-year-old. However at $100m, it's a risky option.
On the defensive front, all signs so far have pointed to Bournemouth's 21-year-old Milos Kerkez who has had a breakthrough season. Per The Daily Mail, Liverpool might actually be interested in a trio of Cherries, including forward Antoine Semenyo (25) and center back Dean Huïjsen (20), who would favor a move to Liverpool due to their Dutch contingent. Other reports have Liverpool tracking Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso (25) who could be available for $40-$45million.
Finally, journalist Pete O'Rourke, tweets this morning: "Man United and Liverpool are tracking Stade de Reims midfielder Amadou Kone. The 19-year-old, who has been likened to Brighton’s Carlos Baleba for his style of play, is valued in the £20m price bracket."
