Liverpool will be playing their first match as the newly crowned 2024/25 Premier League champions when they host Chelsea in their next clash at Anfield on Sunday, May 4 2025. The Reds will be in a bit of a celebratory mood for the game against a Chelsea side pushing for a top-five place in the league. Arne Slot, however, won’t let his players become complacent and will urge them to put their best foot forward to produce a thrilling display for the Anfield crowd. Here is our Liverpool predicted lineup.

Liverpool Predicted Lineup vs Chelsea for 2024/25 Premier League Clash

How Liverpool Have Lined Up Recently

Slot opted to play with his strongest possible lineup to seal the Premier League title and ensure that the Reds won their last three straight league games. Liverpool’s strongest XI contains the ever-reliable Alisson Becker in goal as he continues producing impressive performances. Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate have locked down the centre-back roles, while Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to get game time at right-back despite his links to Real Madrid. Andy Robertson is still ahead of Kostas Tsimikas in the left-back pecking order.

Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have also formed an unbreakable partnership in midfield. Dominik Szoboszlai has, in turn, started excelling in that advanced midfield role as well. Mohamed Salah is undroppable after having 28 goals this season, while Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz have helped form an intimidating forward line for the Reds. With that being said, with the league title being sealed, Slot could be compelled to change up his team for this one to give the relatively underused players some playing time.

Liverpool Recent Form and Tactics

Liverpool have done an admirable job in picking up their form ever since losing the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle United and being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in March (2025). They have won four of their last five Premier League games, which includes their 5-1 battering of Tottenham Hotspur, the win which helped them secure the Premier League title in style.

Slot has not made any changes to his attack-first playing style and stuck with his reliable 4-2-3-1 formation all through the campaign. He has shaped up his side to be sturdy with their defensive work, especially with the two midfielders Gravenberch and Mac Allister often dropping deep to help out the defenders. The Reds love to employ a devastating counter-attacking threat, with the speed and incisiveness of their forwards resulting in many goals on the break this season.

Slot has also ensured that the Liverpool players have perfected the pressing style under him, mostly employing a mid-press to win back the ball in midfield and then work their way on counter-attacks. The relatively lesser defensive work for forward players has significantly benefitted them, with Salah excelling with more time in the opposition half and scoring 28 goals in the league. The Dutch gaffer will urge his players to continue playing their exciting brand of attacking football against Chelsea and put on an entertaining show for the fans.

Liverpool Injuries to Consider

Conor Bradley missed the Spurs game because of an injury, but he could be back in action against Chelsea after returning to full training. Joe Gomez is still recovering from surgery on a thigh injury, but he could return for the final few games of the 2024/25 season.
