Liverpool stand firm as major club tries to open talks for fan-favorite

Liverpool have made their position abundantly clear regarding the future of Colombian winger Luis Díaz: he’s not for sale, and Bayern Munich would be wise to move on.

According to Ben Jacobs, the Merseyside club has outright refused to engage with the German giants despite interest that has been brewing over the past few weeks. While reports earlier this summer claimed Bayern were preparing a formal offer for Díaz, Liverpool have not only rejected every advance so far, but have also refused to entertain negotiations entirely.

A hard line from Anfield

The Reds’ response leaves little to interpretation. Even amid speculation that Bayern might return with a higher bid — potentially in the range of €60-70 millionLiverpool have no intention of opening the door, no matter the price.

This is more than just a routine hands-off warning. Sources close to the club describe their tone as “unequivocal,” with no plans to allow Bayern to present or discuss any formal bid.

Such a resolute stance is rare in today’s hyper-fluid transfer market, where even elite players are often given a valuation. But in Díaz’s case, Liverpool have put up a concrete wall, not a price tag.

Why Díaz is central to Liverpool’s plans

The 28-year-old has become one of Liverpool’s most dynamic attacking players since his arrival from FC Porto in 2022. His directness, work rate, and flair on the left flank have made him a nightmare for Premier League fullbacks and a critical piece of Arne Slot’s system heading into the new season.

Liverpool’s refusal to even talk to Bayern suggests he’ll be one of the first names on the team sheet under Slot, and not a player the club views as expendable.

Bayern’s hunt likely to continue elsewhere

Bayern are actively reshaping their attack under Vincent Kompany, and Díaz was understood to be one of their priority options as they look to add pace and width to a side that has grown increasingly dependent on Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane.

With Kingsley Coman’s future uncertain and Serge Gnabry struggling for form and fitness, Díaz was seen as a natural target. But unless Liverpool’s position changes dramatically, Bayern will have to move on.

Final word

This is a bold statement from Liverpool in an era when few clubs can afford to say no to massive offers. But the message to Bayern is crystal clear: Luis Díaz is going nowhere.

If Bayern still want to test the waters, they’ll be diving into a pool that’s already been drained.
