Young centre-back Jarell Quansah praises Liverpool head coach Arne Slot for adapting to each player according to each individual’s needs. Quansah also highlighted how Slot’s style of play has helped players improve further, given that it suits the majority well.

Contrary to most of his Liverpool teammates, the 21-year-old started the season struggling to impress the new head coach. While the Reds showed dominance early in the transition period under Slot, Quansah struggled to receive significant game time.

The Englishman enjoyed a steep rise under former legendary manager Jurgen Klopp last season, establishing himself in the senior squad. Quansah is another success story to achieve promotion from the prestigious Liverpool academy, helping the club during last season’s campaign.

However, the 21-year-old’s early substitution during the first Premier League game of this season created a lot of undesired rumours. The media and the social media argued that Quansah had failed to impress Slot with uncertainty rising around the silence.

Quansah’s statement has outlined how all the rumours and uncertainty are hearsay as it is business as usual at Liverpool. Speaking about Slot and his style (via Liverpoolfc.com), Quansah highlighted his adaptability according to each Liverpool player. He said:

“He’s been great, he’s been good for everyone. The way he’s come in and got us playing a different style, it suits a lot of our players. You’ve seen yourself with some of the football we’ve been playing, it’s been really attractive and exciting. It’s been good and we’ve put ourselves in a good position, so it’s just about kicking on. “He’s very good with his tactics but on the other side of it, he’s good with putting [an] arm around players and encouraging when he needs to, or maybe even, if it’s needed, give a bit of criticism or whatever it may be – but it’s all for the better of the players.”

Quansah delivered a redeeming performance against LOSC Lille in the Champions League’s group stage game for the Reds on Tuesday. The 21-year-old remains a deputy to captain Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate in the absence of injured Joe Gomez.

Nevertheless, Quansah will earn ample opportunities to shine as Liverpool remain active in every competition at the moment. The hectic fixture schedule demands a healthy squad rotation with the defence stretched thin due to Gomez’s injury.

Liverpool plays Ipswich Town next in the Premier League clash at Anfield followed by their last Champions League group stage game against PSV Eindhoven. Creating a winning momentum takes emphasis for the Reds after undesired results during the start of 2025.
