The Brazilian media have given their verdict on Andrey Santos and Joao Pedro who both played for Brazil in their friendly against France on Thursday.

It was a frustrating night for the Chelsea duo as Brazil lost 2-1, with Santos starting the game, whilst Pedro came on as a second half substitute.

Both Santos and Pedro have been in good form for Chelsea this season, but they were unable to recreate that on the international stage.

Brazilian media react to Andrey Santos and Joao Pedro performances

Given Chelsea’s run of four defeats in a row, the duo would likely have been grateful for a break from club matters, with the World Cup coming up this summer.

Brazil will have been disappointed to lose, and the Brazilian media didn’t give Santos or Pedro the best reviews after the game with ESPN Brasil not impressed.

“Chosen to replace the injured Bruno Guimaraes, Andrey had difficulty finding himself on the field and giving the rhythm that the team needed. Rating: 4.5.”

“Activated by Ancelotti as a bet to change the offensive dynamics of the team, he had reduced space to show the same football as Chelsea. No rating.”

Chelsea youngster Estevao wasn’t part of the squad due to injury, despite the 18-year-old returning to action in the 3-0 defeat to Everton.

Improvement required for Chelsea duo

Next up for Brazil is another friendly against Croatia, and both Santos and Pedro will be looking to put in improved performances.

Against France Santos managed 36 touches of the ball, and completed 27 of his 30 passes, and won three out of his five duels.

Pedro on the other hand won just two of his six duels, and had just 14 touches, with only two of those coming in the opposition box.
