Lucas Beraldo arrived at Paris Saint-Germain this past January transfer window. The Brazilian’s signing provides more depth for the defense, another bet the capital club is making with a young player with a high potential ceiling.

In an interview with Free Ligue 1, the 20-year-old discussed a wide range of topics, including his decision-making process for choosing PSG as the club he wanted to join to begin his European career.

“So, it was a Saturday, I was at home, and I had arrived from vacation,” Beraldo said (h/t Paris Fans). “I was with my wife. We were coming back from Cancun. And I told my father not to say anything because I wanted to be on vacation.

“The next day, he called me and told me that Paris Saint-Germain was interested. I told him that we could talk about it now and that we could pack our bags. I was ready to go there. And after all, everything went very well.”

Moreover, the young defender also discussed who is helping with his transition to the French capital. Beraldo notes that the Portuguese players, Marquinhos, and his ability to speak Spanish have all played roles in helping him adapt to this new challenge.

“Portuguese people like Danilo, Vitinha, Gonçalo Ramos, and Marquinhos gave me advice,” Beraldo added. “The fact that I speak Spanish means that I can speak with Luis Enrique. He gives me advice on my game, and I hope I can help the team more and more.”

After Milan Skriniar’s injury, PSG will have to count on Beraldo more than they probably would have liked. The defender is now at the deep end of the pool as he quickly navigates and gets accustomed to European football.
