Manchester United are continuing their search for a long-term managerial solution following major changes at Old Trafford earlier this year, with Luis Enrique among the names linked to the role.

The club decided to sack Ruben Amorim at the start of 2026.

Following 14 turbulent months on the pitch and some strong criticism of the hierarchy off it, the club’s leadership ultimately had no choice but to part ways with the Portuguese manager.

They are now exploring a number of managerial options as they plan the next phase of their rebuild.

United’s leadership have since been assessing several high-profile candidates capable of leading the club’s next sporting project.

The process has involved reviewing coaches with experience at the highest level of European football as the club look to return to consistent success.

Among the names linked with the role in recent months has been Luis Enrique.

The Spanish manager, who recently won the UEFA Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, has been identified as one of the experienced coaches admired by Manchester United’s decision makers.

His success in elite competitions and his reputation for building strong tactical systems are among the most attractive qualities about him.

However, fresh developments in France now appear to have clarified Enrique’s immediate plans.

According to Le Parisien, Luis Enrique is set to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2030, despite currently being under contract with the club until 2027.

PSG recently delivered an impressive Champions League display by defeating Chelsea 5-2 at the Parc des Princes in the round of 16, a result that further strengthened the club’s belief in Enrique’s leadership.

Club officials are now keen to reward the manager with a long-term extension as they continue building a new era following the departure of several key figures in recent seasons.

While Manchester United continue to consider multiple candidates for their managerial vacancy, Enrique now appears likely to remain in Paris as PSG look to build their future around his long-term vision.
