Tottenham Hotspur may have decided to send Luka Vuskovic out on loan owing to Radu Dragusin’s imminent return from injury
Tottenham Hotspur had a busy transfer deadline day- both in terms of incomings and outgoings.
Spurs managed to sign Randal Kolo Muani on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain in their efforts to compensate for Dominic Solanke’s recent ankle injury. On the outgoings front, they sold Bryan Gil to Girona for €10m and loaned out Manor Solomon to Villarreal. A few days ago, Luka Vuskovic was also allowed to leave the club.
Luka Vuskovic sealed a loan move to newly-promoted Bundesliga club Hamburger SV for the 2025/26 season. The teenager spent 18 months on loan at Radomiak Radom and KVC Westerlo before arriving at White Hart Lane in July. The centre-back delivered some eye-catching performances in the pre-season for Spurs and it was anticipated that he could be in for a regular spot in Thomas Frank’s senior squad this term.
However, the Croatian international has been allowed to join Hamburger on a temporary basis.
Reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham feels Tottenham’s idea to loan out Vuskovic hints at imminent return of Radu Dragusin.
Dragusin has been sidelined since the end of January with an ACL injury. The centre-back shared an injury update with the fans in May, putting in hard yards to return from a serious knee injury. The Sun journalist Tom Barclay had earlier revealed that the Romanian will not be fit for the start of the 2025/26 season.
However, John Wenham thinks Vuskovic going out on loan is linked with Dragusin’s long-awaited return from a serious knee injury.
“I just wonder if maybe Dragusin is further in his development than maybe we thought,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Maybe that’s why they’ve loaned Vuskovic out. It might be because Dragusin is making rapid progress and should be available soon.”
Dragusin has been sidelined for several months now. He has been doing his rehab, trying to recover fully and return to action. But, Tottenham won’t risk putting him straight into action in the first team and may decide to build his fitness with game time with the Under-21s.
As far as Vuskovic is concerned, it is crucial that the decision to loan him out to Bundesliga was taken purely with the best interests for all parties involved, rather than in relation to Dragusin’s dilemma. Fans would want to see the young Croat make the most of his loan spell with Hamburg, develop well and return back to north London with the aim to challenge for a first-team spot.
