With Donnarumma on the way out, the next question in this saga is where the Italian shot-stopper will continue his career. In his latest column for PSG Talk, journalist Robin Bairner analyzed the potential destinations and one being Chelsea.

“Big-spending Chelsea is a side ever on the lookout for opportunities in the transfer market, but a move for Donnarumma seems unlikely at this point,” Bairner wrote. “The Blues have been pretty shrewd with their buys this summer, picking most of their new signings up for relative bargains. Unless Donnarumma’s price drops to something like €20 million, they’re unlikely to waver.

“Robert Sanchez might not be the biggest name in goal, but he appears well-suited to Enzo Maresca’s plans in West London. On top of this, there’s the wage issue to consider. The Blues have a strict salary structure that would be stretched if a deal were to be struck for Donnarumma. The Italian is reportedly paid around €10 million per year by Les Parisiens—a figure that would put him right at the top of the Stamford Bridge side’s pay scale.”
