Man Utd battle European rivals as 125g/a megastar demands his club drop his price

Manchester United have rejuvenated their desire to sign Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres, facing competition from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid. The Red Devils have prioritised the attacking department at the start of the summer, opting to sign quality over quantity.

The reason for Man United’s transfer plan is simple, as they have no European competition to deal with next season. With a less fixture schedule awaiting them, Ruben Amorim wants to use the season to establish his tactical playing style.

The Portuguese boss needs a player who understands his philosophy and demands, something that the United squad struggled to do. Nevertheless, the United hierarchy has put all of their faith in the new boss, using the summer to rectify that.

Man United are already close to securing the deal involving Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves. The Red Devils need a number nine that Amorim can trust to complete the triangle he prefers in the 3-4-2-1.

According to Fichajes, United have reignited their desire to sign Gyokeres from Sporting CP amid interest from Atletico and Arsenal. Fabrizio Romano (via X) revealed that Gyokeres has decided not to return to training for Sporting Lisbon after reacting furiously to his change in valuation by the parent club.

Gyokeres has operated under Amorim during their tenure together at Sporting Lisbon, involving major success for the Portuguese club. The 27-year-old is currently operating at the prime year of his career and has scored goals for fun in the Liga Portugal.

The Sweden international has scored 97 goals and provided 28 assists from 102 appearances during his tenure for Sporting CP. Gyokeres’ incredible goalscoring profile makes him a very tempting option for the fanbase, along with Cunha and Mbeumo.

With Rasmus Hojlund potentially staying at the club, United could enjoy a formidable attacking unit next season, rejuvenating the club. The Red Devils have to move quickly to beat the European rivals if Sporting CP agrees with Gyokeres and drops his £84m asking price.
