Manchester United are their left-back Luke Shaw for Sunday’s FA Cup contest against Brighton.
The Red Devils will kickstart their cup campaign by hosting the Seagulls at Old Trafford. The kickoff is set at 16:30 UK time.
At around 15:00, Darren Fletcher and his men arrived at the ground for what could be the caretaker’s final match in charge of the senior team, before making way for a more experienced interim coach, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick considered the favourites.
While the players were stepping out of the team bus and heading towards the locker room, observers noted the absence of Fernandes and Shaw. This was also confirmed by the Manchester Evening News journalist Steven Railston.
It should be noted that the skipper has only just returned from an injury layoff in the midweek draw against Burnley.
The Portuguese playmaker was even in the starting lineup at Turf Moor, so it remains to be seen whether this is a precautionary measure on the technical staff’s part or if the player suffered a relapse that warranted his absence.
As for Shaw, he had been omnipresent in Ruben Amorim’s starting lineup this season, and Fletcher confirmed as a starter on Wednesday.
However, it should be noted that Fletcher didn’t mention any fresh injury concerns in his pre-match press conference.
Bruno’s spot in the squad has been filled by the head coach’s son, Tyler Fletcher, who joins his twin, Jack, who has already made his senior debut under Amorim.
