Man Utd to sign £59m star for dream partnership with Cunha and Mbeumo

Manchester United want prolific Sporting CP number nine Viktor Gyokeres after securing Matheus Cunha and closing in on Bryan Mbeumo. The Red Devils are planning to reunite Gyokeres with their new manager, Ruben Amorim, to form a formidable attacking unit.

Gyokeres gained an immense reputation after enjoying an incredible tenure at Sporting Lisbon, mostly under Amorim during his reign there. At 27 years of age, Gyokeres is performing consistently at the peak of his career, contributing regular goals and assists.

The Sweden International helped Sporting CP win the Liga Portugal title last season, despite Amorim’s mid-season departure to Man United. Meanwhile, Amorim has not enjoyed the start to his tenure in England as his new squad failed to adjust quickly.

The current Man United team has already struggled with inconsistencies, and their misery only grew under the new tactical demands. United’s manager and Amorim are using the summer transfer windows to get players who will fit this tactical playing style.

The Red Devils have already prioritised the attacking department as the first thing they want to improve immediately this summer. According to GiveMeSport, United are stepping up their pursuit of Sporting CP star Gyokeres after finalising the deal for Cunha and edging closer to a potential signing of Mbeumo from Brentford.

If the Red Devils sign Mbeumo, the combined fee of Cunha and the Brentford forward could pass £120 million. Meanwhile, Sporting CP have put a £59 million price tag on Gyokeres, which could stretch United’s finances to the limit.

The Red Devils are facing a persistent financial problem, hoping to sell most of their surplus to raise transfer funds. However, supporting Amorim remains a priority, and Gyokeres is a player who has shone under the Portuguese boss.

On paper, an attacking lineup involving Cunha, Mbuemo, and Gyokeres is as strong a lineup as any team can put in the Premier League. If United could finance this deal, they would have to do it immediately before other top clubs make a move.
