Hearts of Midlothian are having an absolutely incredible season, storming ahead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The Edinburgh-based side haven’t won the league since the 1959/60 league, with Celtic and Rangers all too often dominating the Premiership.
However, for now, Hearts sit five points ahead of reigning Champions Celtic, and six points ahead of Rangers.
That said, the club are now set to receive a hefty financial boost, curtesy of Manchester City who have won the race to sign one of their young stars.
The Daily Mail has reported that The Citizens are all set to sign young midfielder Keir McMeekin, with a pre-contract agreement nearly in place for the 16-year-old, set to be finalised in the summer.
In return of losing their young prospect, Hearts are set to receive £600,000 in compensation which could rise to £2 million if he makes an agreed number of appearances for City’s senior squad.
Pep Guardiola’s side weren’t the only interested party though, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion also in the mix.
Back in September, CentreDevils revealed United were pushing hard to sign the 16-year-old, inviting the youngster to Carrington for a tour, however now appear to have missed out on their target.
Despite the interest, Keir McMeekin is yet to make his competitive debut, having only trained with the Hearts senior side, but not yet playing for them.
McMeekin is however, already impressing on the international stage, having played for Scotland’s Under-15s and Under-17s sides.
