Manchester United are continuing to explore opportunities in the transfer market.

Recent reports suggest the club could once again be looking across the city in search of fresh talent.

The Red Devils have already been linked with a move for former Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez.

Reports said that club officials have remained in contact with the Argentine’s representatives regarding a possible future transfer.

United’s recruitment team are also placing significant emphasis on youth.

Recent reports have suggested that Manchester United could attempt to sign two Liverpool academy players this summer, including highly-rated forward Vincent Joseph, who has impressed with his performances at youth level.

Now, it appears another academy raid could be on the cards.

Manchester United eye talented Manchester City pair

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are attempting to sign two highly-rated Manchester City youngsters this summer.

The report states that United are targeting Xavier Parker and Karim Cassim as they continue to strengthen the club’s academy structure.

Neither player has yet made a senior appearance.

However, both are regarded as outstanding prospects within City’s youth ranks.

Parker, 16, is viewed as one of the brightest attacking midfield talents in his age group.

The England youth international joined Manchester City from West Ham United’s academy in 2024 and has already progressed into City’s Under-18 side despite only recently turning 16.

Manchester City describe Parker as a “dynamic, attack-minded midfielder” capable of adding goals and creativity from central areas.

Cassim, meanwhile, is another highly-rated central midfielder who has also represented England at youth level and faces a significant decision regarding his future this summer.

The Daily Mail report claims that Manchester United are actively trying to persuade both teenagers to make the switch to Old Trafford.

With Michael Carrick guiding the first team back into the Champions League and the academy continuing to produce elite talent, United may believe they can offer an attractive pathway for young players.

Should the moves materialise, they would represent another significant blow to Manchester City’s academy setup.

It would also further underline United’s determination to strengthen for both the present and the future.
