Elliot Anderson has been a driving force for Nottingham Forest as the outfit aim to steer clear of relegation in the upcoming weeks.

The midfielder, who had previously been with Newcastle United, has made thirty appearances in the Premier League this season with two goals and two assists.

Anderson has also created 45 chances, with five of these being classed as big chances. On a defensive and forward thinking scale, he has also won 245 duels and had 40 successful dribbles.

These statistics, alongside his Premier League experience, has attracted the interest of Manchester United who added the former Bristol Rovers man to a shortlist of midfield targets for this summer.

With other names such as Sandro Tonali and Joao Gomes also linked with a move to Old Trafford, supporters could see a midfield overhaul in the summer.

Now, the club’s bid to sign Elliot Anderson has been challenged with rivals Manchester City pushing to sign the midfielder according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist, speaking on his YouTube channel, also revealed that the Citizens are currently in advanced with his agent and that, although nothing has been agreed, their interest is clear to the midfielder.

City have previously been linked with a move for Camden Schaper, who was of interest of Manchester United as well.

Pep Guardiola’s outfit have also beaten the Red Devils to Keir McMeekin, with an agreement between the Etihad Stadium side and the Hearts man set to be agreed in the summer.

Links between Anderson and Manchester City create the potential for another steal, this time on a bigger and more mainstream scale.

A move to either club may help the midfielder to take the next step in his career and would see the English international playing with a number of world class talents.

Now, focus will switch to Anderson to see which club he chooses over the coming months.
