Manchester City's Pep Guardiola says he'll sit players already celebrating league title

Premier League leaders Manchester City have won 20 consecutive games, are 12 points clear atop the table with 12 matches remaining and are seen by many as the uncrowned champions of the English top-flight. 

As Rob Dawson noted for ESPN, City manager Pep Guardiola told reporters ahead of Tuesday's clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers that he could drop players he believes are prematurely celebrating the title. 

"When I feel that everyone is thinking the job is done, or how good it is, this guy is not going to play," Guardiola explained on Monday. "I'm so intuitive to know exactly the guys who are not ready to continue what we have to do."

City haven't lost since November and remain in the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup competitions. They'll face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup final on April 25. 

Despite the continued success, Guardiola has warned his players that they haven't yet won anything of note this season. 

"The champion is Liverpool, we are not," he said. "To do it we still have to win eight, nine or 10 games and it's a lot of games. There are incredible teams who struggle for four or five games to win games. It can happen to us too.

"Last season it happened. At the beginning of the season it happened. We were unable to win three games in a row in the first two months. That's why."

On Friday evening, Guardiola admitted that he shouted at his players more often than he liked. Monday's comments suggest he won't be finished yelling anytime soon.
