Manchester United keep pressing for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic

Manchester United always find a way to put themselves at the centre of every conversation. The Old Trafford club do not live on memories and every summer shows that their ambition knows no bounds, and they really need to have it in them. The fans demand big-name signings, and the board often respond with names that excite. Now that Ruben Amorim has taken the reins, there is a sense of renewal with a new project. His presence awakens hope, but also puts pressure on the sporting directors to make a move for key players. Between rumours and leaks, the illusion becomes fuel for a fan base that does not want another year of empty promises.

According to The Sun, Manchester United will meet with Dušan Vlahović’s agents next week. The Serbian striker could become the cornerstone of their attack if negotiations are successful. The board have already secured the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and continue to press for Brentford-based Bryan Mbeumo to bolster the flanks ahead of the pre-season tour of the United States. However, Amorim sees the arrival of a goal-scoring number nine as a matter of urgency. After losing Liam Delap and Viktor Gyökeres, all eyes are on Turin. Juventus are looking to get rid of Vlahović to ease their wage bill. It is no secret that the Italians are looking for an agreed termination to facilitate the Serbian’s departure.

Why he is important for the Red Devils?

However, not everyone sees this move as a clear-cut one. Vlahović possesses undisputed virtues, and those are physical presence, instinct in the box and the ability to finish with both feet. His height and power could prove to be a blessing in the Premier League, especially for a manager like Amorim, who values verticality and direct play. However, the 25-year-old’s sometimes aloofness and inconsistent form in Italy have raised doubts.

Compared to Højlund, who has never really exploded last season, Vlahović offers an immediate leap in quality. His experience and European pedigree place him above the young Dane, who has even been tipped for a move away this summer. The big challenge for United will be to secure a deal at a low cost, as there is talk of a high salary.

If they can balance the books and convince the player, the signing could inject much-needed goals. Amorim needs a reliable striker up top, someone to drag defenders forward and free up space for Cunha and possibly Mbeumo. In our opinion, Vlahović is a better fit than Højlund, especially for a team that wants to fight again every weekend. His arrival would send a clear signal to the league that United are no longer in a position to go through grey seasons.
