Manchester United confident of signing Louis Page

Louis Page has emerged as one of Manchester United’s latest midfield targets, with new updates now emerging about the club’s plans for the Leicester City youth academy graduate.

Page, who has played in three of Leicester’s four League One games so far this season, initially appeared on United’s radar last month.

Links between the parties continued to grow with him even left of City’s squad for the side’s fixture against Notts County on 15th August.

Whilst rumours begun to swirl about whether Manchester United could complete the signing, fears began to emerge about Arsenal’s growing interest in the midfielder.

Manchester Evening News journalist Tyrone Marshall has now provided an update on the situation with him saying that United remain confidence of signing the midfielder.

Marshall, reporting on Manchester Evening News’ website, has also said that work on the deal is continuing with it now including a loan deal back to Leicester.

Lines of communication between the two clubs still remain open, too, whilst the biggest barrier to the deal initially was the payment terms of the initial fee and the make-up of the add-ons.

Whilst Marshall says that the deal collapsed on deadline day, with Leicester demanding £10m + 2.5m in add-ons, and whilst Arsenal have shown renewed interest, Louis Page is sold on the pathway and vision presented to him at Old Trafford.

With this latest update provided, it appears that United’s pursuit of Page is progressing nicely. It remains unclear when an agreement between the two clubs will be reached, although patience from United will be essential in its success.

Manchester United already moved to sign exciting midfielder Cristian Orozco earlier this summer and, should a deal for Page go through, the club’s strength in midfield will be promising.

The foundation work for the next generation of Manchester United stars appears to be well under way. United’s focus is now on ensuring those foundations are as strong as possible.
