Manchester United could save a world-class striker’s career for free

Every summer throws up its surprises, but this one might be the wildest yet — and Manchester United could be in the perfect position to benefit.

According to a bombshell report from Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus are planning to terminate Dusan Vlahovic’s contract. That would make the Serbian striker — once one of the most sought-after forwards in world football — a free agent, immediately available to sign. And per Di Marzio, Vlahovic is eager to join the Premier League, with Manchester United at the top of his list.

This is not just a bargain. This is a potential career-saving move for one of Europe’s fallen stars and a golden opportunity for United to fill a massive void without spending a dime in transfer fees.

Vlahovic: A victim of Juventus dysfunction

Let’s not forget who Dusan Vlahovic is. The 24-year-old exploded onto the scene at Fiorentina, where he scored 38 Serie A goals over his final 18 months and looked destined for superstardom. Juventus swooped in with big money and big promises. But what followed was one of the more baffling fall-offs in recent memory.

Vlahovic hasn’t become a bad player — Juventus simply don’t know how to use him. Like many others before him, including Federico Bernardeschi and Arthur Melo, Vlahovic became another talent chewed up and spat out by a tactically confused, ultra-conservative Juventus setup.

And now, after just a few seasons and a staggering financial outlay, Juve are giving up entirely. The club is reportedly considering releasing him outright, or allowing him to leave for free next season.

That’s how United — in dire need of another top striker — could swoop in and rescue a broken talent at zero cost.

Perfect timing, perfect fit

United need goals. It’s as simple as that. Rasmus Højlund is promising but inconsistent, and there’s no reliable backup behind him. Anthony Martial has already left. Joshua Zirkzee might arrive, but United still lack an elite finisher with presence in the box and experience at the highest level.

Vlahovic, even at his lowest, remains a physically dominant, left-footed striker with a killer instinct. If there’s any club that can offer him the chance to get his career back on track and help them in return, it’s Manchester United.

Yes, Arsenal and Tottenham have shown interest. But Arsenal are locked in on Viktor Gyökeres, and Tottenham spent big last summer on Dominic Solanke. They don’t have the same urgency — or room — United do.

The kind of deal United used to master

Once upon a time, Manchester United were known for pouncing on elite talent in chaos. Think Robin van Persie in 2012. Dusan Vlahovic could be that player, if not in profile then in impact. He’s still just 24, still possesses the raw tools of a top-tier No. 9, and would arrive with a massive point to prove.

This is a move that costs nothing but ambition. For once, United could make a smart, decisive, opportunistic signing that gives them a striker, adds depth, and potentially saves a career that deserves far better than what Juventus gave him.

The time is now. Don’t let this one slip away.
