Manchester United earn £48.6m

Manchester United are approaching the end of a successful season that has seen the club regain hope ahead of the summer transfer window.

Michael Carrick has led this operation, coming into the club in January on an interim basis and leading his team to Champions League qualification for next season.

It is not clear who the Red Devils will face in the competition yet but qualification for the tournament arguably offers supporters some comfort after early exits in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

The financial gains of qualification, in its own right, can not be underestimated, too, with extra funds beneficial to the club as they try to ensure security.

Now, the financial gains that Manchester United will make due to their table finish have been revealed following the final day of results.

According to Liverpool Echo, the Red Devils are set to earn £48.6m due to the club finishing third in the Premier League this season.

This is due to merit payments which are dictated by the final league position, alongside facility fees based on the frequency in which their matches were broadcast throughout the season.

Arsenal are set to receive the largest sum, due to them winning the league for the first time since 2004, whilst Wolves will receive the lowest figure.
