Manchester United want £50m for Antony with numerous clubs keen

Manchester United are entering a pivotal phase under Ruben Amorim. After a season marked by setbacks, the club is aiming to reshape the squad with more deliberate and effective decisions. In this context, Antony’s future has returned to the spotlight. Signed from Ajax for £85 million in 2022, the Brazilian winger has largely failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford, offering more questions than answers during his spell. His recent loan move to Real Betis helped restore some market value, and now multiple clubs are circling with concrete offers. United, meanwhile, appear ready to sell while they can still recoup part of their investment.

According to UOL in Brazil, Manchester United have set an asking price of approximately £50 million for Antony. This valuation has sparked interest from several clubs, including RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Brighton, Newcastle United, and Real Betis, all of whom have made enquiries about a potential permanent transfer.

The Brazilian winger’s loan spell at Betis proved beneficial, as he tallied nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances. These solid numbers have helped reshape perceptions of the 25-year-old. However, while Betis are keen on retaining him, they currently prefer another loan deal, a scenario United are unwilling to entertain. Manager Ruben Amorim is seeking funds to strengthen the squad and does not want to part with Antony temporarily once again. As previously reported, Antony is even prepared to accept a wage cut to facilitate a return to Spain.

It’s now or never for Manchester United

Manchester United cannot afford to repeat past mistakes. Antony, with just 12 goals in 96 appearances, has failed to justify the significant investment made in him. However, his recent resurgence in La Liga offers the club a rare opportunity to course-correct. Ruben Amorim needs financial flexibility and, more importantly, players who align with his tactical vision, Antony does not fit that mold.

There’s also a lesser-discussed but important factor: Real Betis have acted as a key catalyst in this scenario. They not only revived Antony’s form but have effectively set the tone for the transfer market surrounding him. If Betis make the first move, other interested clubs may follow suit. That’s why United must act decisively. Our prediction? Antony is likely to sign a permanent deal in Seville.
