Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo have made their admiration for a new Manchester United arrival clear, calling him an “incredible person”.

Ruben Amorim has strengthened several areas of Manchester United’s squad ahead of the new season, with most attention f ocused on his work to improve the attack.

Matheus Cunha was the first major signing of the summer, joining from Wolves in June after weeks of speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford.

United had also targeted Bryan Mbeumo early in the window, and their third offer for the former Brentford winger was finally accepted in July.

Later, Benjamin Sesko joined Cunha and Mbeumo, adding further depth to what is now a much-changed forward line under Amorim.

Casemiro and Cunha have already spent time together with the Brazil national team, and now they are teammates again, this time at Old Trafford.

United activated Cunha’s £62.5m release clause in his Wolves contract early in the summer transfer window to expedite the deal.

The Brazilian forward had a strong season with Wolves last year, netting 17 goals and adding six assists across 36 appearances.

In an interview with United’s official media for their ‘First Impressions‘ series, Casemiro emphasized that Cunha’s attacking prowess would significantly enhance the team’s quality on the pitch.

“He’s a young player with a lot of ambition. And well, I’m sure he’s going to be really important for us, not just for scoring goals. But also the quality he has in many ways will carry us in the attacking third.

“He is an incredible person. For me, what I value and what I like to speak about with these people is the personal side.

“Because ultimately, everyone in the world knows what Cunha is: a fantastic player.”

What has Kobbie Mainoo said about Cunha?

Cunha debuted for the Red Devils against Arsenal, playing the full 90 minutes alongside Mbeumo and Mount in a 1-0 defeat. His performance earned high praise, suggesting his readiness for a Big Six club.

Young midfielder Kobbie Mainoo already had a sense of what Cunha could offer, having seen him play against United the previous season. However, he was unaware of the Brazilian’s personal side, which also impressed him.

“Top guy, really nice guy. Obviously, everyone knows how good of a player he is, especially last season with the amount of goals he scored and even against us.

“In training and in games, so far he has looked really good and I have enjoyed playing with him.”

Mainoo continued: “He loves football and he is really excited when we are playing. He’s a top guy, a really nice guy.”

Next up for Manchester United after their opening day loss to Arsenal is an away trip to Fulham on Sunday.
