Manchester United have lost another familiar figure after five years at the club, continuing a period of significant departures from Old Trafford.
United supporters have already witnessed several emotional farewells, with Casemiro’s departure at the end of the 2025/26 campaign among the most significant.
The Brazilian arrived from Real Madrid in 2022 and immediately transformed Erik ten Hag’s midfield.
His aggression, leadership and ability to protect the defence helped United win the Carabao Cup in 2023.
Casemiro even scored the opening goal against Newcastle United at Wembley, providing one of the defining moments of his four-year spell.
His departure closed another chapter for a squad that has undergone considerable change.
Scott McTominay’s exit in 2024 was particularly painful for supporters who had watched him develop through the academy.
The Scot subsequently became a Serie A champion with Napoli, underlining the quality United had lost.
David de Gea’s departure in 2023 also ended a remarkable 12-year association with the club.
Now, another individual who spent years representing Manchester United has confirmed his own departure.
Matthew Holt has announced his departure from Manchester United after more than five years working across the club’s media operations.
Writing on LinkedIn, Holt reflected on interviewing players, presenting content and producing videos viewed by millions.
His work covered United’s men’s, women’s and academy teams, alongside stadium projects and matchday coverage.
He interviewed figures including Luke Shaw, Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount and Maya Le Tissier.
Holt also worked across editorial, print, social media and MUTV, reporting from Premier League and Champions League matches.
He thanked his colleagues and revealed that he has exciting plans for 2027.
Holt intends to continue freelance work while pursuing new opportunities in journalism and content creation.
His departure marks the end of another lengthy association with Old Trafford.
