Manchester United have no shortage of goalkeepers on their books, and one of their finest has won three personal accolades this season.
Following the conclusion of the final day of the EFL Championship, Bristol City handed out their end-of-season awards.
Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek was handed Bristol City’s Player of the Year award, Young Player of the Year award, and Players’ Player of the Year award post-match, following his side’s 2-0 win over Stoke City on the final day of the Championship season.
Only two goalkeepers in the EFL Championship (Carl Rushworth and Christian Walton) amassed more clean sheets in 2025/26 than Vitek, both of whom play for the two sides that were automatically promoted.
Meanwhile, Vitek has spent the campaign at Bristol City, who finished 12th in the table, making his numbers even more impressive. 28% of Vitek’s league games at Bristol City have resulted in him leaving with a clean sheet – an excellent record.
On receiving the award, Radek Vitek told Bristol City’s media team, “It’s been an amazing season for me. There have of course been ups and downs but that is football. I want to thank everyone who voted as it means a lot to me as it reflects on the performances and so I really appreciate it.
“The fans have been unbelievable. I could hear them all game singing my name.”
While Senne Lammens is performing well as Manchester United’s number one for the first team, Radek Vitek will have half an eye on grabbing his spot in the future.
The Czech goalkeeper has had an important year of development in the Championship, and will fancy his chances at stepping up to the Premier League.
Even if a spot in the United starting team doesn’t come his way, Vitek’s loan move will have only provided him with more options ahead of next season.
