Manchester United have hosted representatives from more than 40 football clubs at Old Trafford, with the development coming during a period of significant change.

The Red Devils have undergone another major squad overhaul, with Michael Carrick looking to build on last season’s third-place Premier League finish.

United strengthened their midfield during the summer, bringing in Carlos Baleba, Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.

However, their recruitment strategy has continued to attract attention, particularly following a disappointing start to the new campaign.

Another major concern surrounds the future of JJ Gabriel, one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from Carrington.

The youngster recently turned 16 but has already requested to leave United following a disagreement over his pathway into senior football.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with the forward.

United have since attempted to resolve the situation, although his departure remains a serious possibility.

With recruitment, academy development and long-term planning under scrutiny, Old Trafford has now welcomed representatives from dozens of clubs.

Manchester United host major football conference

Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium hosted TGG Live 2026, a two-day football industry conference attended by more than 550 delegates.

According to Training Ground Guru, representatives from over 40 clubs and seven governing bodies attended the event.

Delegates travelled from 11 countries, with sporting directors, chief executives, scouts and academy officials participating.

The conference featured 22 main-stage sessions covering recruitment, coaching, analytics, leadership and artificial intelligence.

Manchester United’s Academy Director Stephen Torpey participated in a panel alongside Brentford’s David Rainford and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jonathan Hunter-Barrett.

Former Chelsea academy chief Neil Bath also delivered a keynote speech on leadership and developing young players.

Newcastle United sporting director Ross Wilson joined another panel discussing the growing importance of data in football.

Artificial intelligence featured prominently, with experts exploring how technology can improve recruitment decisions and player performance.

Crucially, the discussions were part of an industry conference rather than negotiations over transfers.

The event brought together leading football figures to exchange knowledge and explore developments shaping the modern game.
