Manchester United’s hunt for a new manager is seemingly entering the final stages as The Red Devils look to appoint Ruben Amorim’s successor this summer.
United have been managing under the interim leadership of Michael Carrick since January, as the former United midfielder has led them to reclaim Champions League football for next year.
The Old Trafford side appears set to finish the season in third place, twelve places higher than their 15th place finish last year, with Carrick having successfully stabilised the club.
However, despite this success, United still haven’t committed to appointing Carrick permanently, although this is still the expected outcome this summer.
The decision looks even more likely now as The Daily Mail has reported that United are no longer considering Andoni Iraola for the role.
Due to his stint with Bournemouth, he was one of a few Premier League-proven managers being considered for the role alongside Oliver Glasner from Crystal Palace.
Now, The Red Devils are seemingly not looking to offer him the role when he leaves The Cherries this summer, leaving him open to discuss potential moves to Crystal Palace or Chelsea.
As such, with other elite managers like Luis Enrique, Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel committed to their sides, PSG, Brazil and England respectively, the decision to step away from Andoni Iraola limits the options even further as to who United will turn to.
Ultimately it looks like The Red Devils will be headed into next season with Michael Carrick at the helm, however the club want to ensure they make the right decision after having suffered with the appointments of Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.
