Manchester United eyeing 2026 move for Bayern Munich star Aleksandar Pavlovic

Manchester United’s search for midfield reinforcements shows no sign of slowing. The latest name linked is Aleksandar Pavlovic. The 21-year-old has emerged as one of Bayern Munich’s brightest prospects, and his recent performances have already attracted admirers across Europe. Bild reports that both United and Manchester City have contacted Pavlovic’s representatives, which has signalled a clear intent from two Premier League heavyweights.

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also tracking the youngster, which makes this a highly competitive pursuit. Pavlovic has quickly risen through the Bayern system and impressed since breaking into the senior side. The 21-year-old shows composure and maturity even at this age. Bild claims clubs have already made initial contact, and it shows how serious they are about testing Bayern’s resolve.

Both Manchester clubs appear ready to explore opportunities if the player is open to a move. However, Bayern’s stance makes any attempt to lure him away extremely difficult and very expensive. His contract runs until 2029 and includes no suggestion of an early exit. This is strengthening the German champions’ position in negotiations.

Does Pavlovic fit what United need?

He is a player who reads the game well. The German midfielder often wins duels and distributes the ball with precision from deep areas. He also brings a calming presence in midfield, can link defence and attack while maintaining control under pressure.

Casemiro shows signs of decline, and other midfield options lack composure. Pavlovic could represent a long-term anchor. The idea of building a midfield core around him fits the club’s desire for stability. This comes at a time when decisions over players like Joshua Zirkzee, who could leave in January, remain unresolved.

United would need to look at the financial demands and assess whether Pavlovic’s long-term potential offsets the risks. Bayern, however, have no plans to sell, and his contract ensures they hold all the leverage.

Pavlovic clearly fits the profile United crave, but securing him will be as challenging as the decision itself. With uncertainty still surrounding managerial succession after Gareth Southgate distanced himself from the job and ongoing speculation about squad changes, Manchester United’s chase of Pavlovic could define their transfer approach in the coming windows.
