Manchester United have offered Marcus Rashford to Real Madrid amid Barcelona’s decision to sign Nico Williams during this summer window. United are desperate to get Rashford off their wage budget this summer, angling for a permanent sale of the Englishman.
The Red Devils have targeted the attacking department as their first area to improve with recruitment under manager Ruben Amorim. Amorim joined Man United last season and immediately decided to loan out several stars in the January window, including Rashford.
The former Sporting CP boss is overseeing a busy transfer window, transitioning the team according to his vision and philosophy. Amorim needs players who would suit his tactical style of play and are eager to fulfil the demands with consistency.
Rashford has struggled to operate with any consistency in the last two seasons at United, showing rejuvenation at Aston Villa. After his successful loan spell at Villa, the Englishman has focused on leaving United with Barcelona as his preferred destination.
According to Defensa Central, United have offered Rashford to Madrid as Barcelona have opted to sign Williams from Athletic Club. Madrid wants a striker to compete with Kylian Mbappe, and the Red Devils believe Rashford’s versatility could make the deal.
However, the 27-year-old attacker prefers to play as a left-winger, where he would face a daunting battle with Vinicius Junior. Rashford has many suitors, but meeting the complete package of a £40m price tag and his wages poses a problem.
Even if the Englishman takes a massive pay cut to lower the £325,000kpw wages he currently earns at United, getting the deal done is very complicated for any interested party. Real have the finances to get the deal done if they opt to pursue Rashford this summer.
However, as things stand, the Spanish giant have no interest in pursuing the 27-year-old who infamously gained a poor reputation in recent seasons. United cannot let these sales drag on for long, as they need to maintain their focus on rebuilding. Hopefully, the Red Devils will find a quick solution that benefits both Rashford and the club.
