Manchester United is focused on securing a return to Champions League football, but plans for next season are taking shape.

With just a handful of games remaining, every result is crucial as Michael Carrick’s side push to increase the gap between them and those behind them in the table.

United currently sit third in the league and look set to secure European football again.

The club have begun laying the groundwork for the 2026/27 campaign.

United have now officially confirmed, on their website, four additional pre-season fixtures, expanding on the previously announced clash against Leeds United in Dublin.

The schedule will see United begin preparations with a trip to Finland, where they will face Wrexham, a club with historic ties to United, having been beaten during the Red Devils’ 1990/91 European Cup Winners’ Cup run.

The Welsh club are co-owned by Hollywood stars, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, turning the fixtures into a commercial spectacle as well.

United will then head to Norway to take on Rosenborg BK, continuing a Nordic theme in their early preparations.

As August approaches, attention shifts to Sweden, where United will face Atletico Madrid in Stockholm with the Snapdragon Cup on the line.

The fixture carries added intrigue given recent history between the sides, with Atletico eliminating United from the 2021/22 Champions League knockout stages.

Stockholm itself holds special memories for United fans, as it was the city where the club lifted the Europa League trophy in 2017 after defeating Ajax.

The tour then ramps up further with a high-profile clash against Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning Champions League holders, in what will be one of the toughest tests of the summer.

That fixtures also evokes memories of United’s famous 2019 comeback, when Marcus Rashford converted a dramatic penalty in Paris to seal progression.

The final game will see United meet Leeds at Croke Park.

However, the game is not guaranteed.

If Leeds are relegated, their schedule would clash with the opening weekend of the EFL season, while qualification for the Community Shield, by winning the FA Cup, would also force the cancellation of the Dublin clash.

For Carrick, the priority remains unchanged.

Securing Champions League would not only define the current season but also shape how ambitious this pre-season schedule is approached.
