A major revamp is needed in the attacking line if Tottenham want to close the gap on their rivals next season. The Lilywhites did not enjoy a stellar Premier League campaign last season, and the attackers were partly to blame for the disastrous domestic form. Many key players failed to step up when it mattered the most, and the lack of squad depth in certain positions proved to be costly in the end.
It has been known for a while now that the North London club must sign a quality winger that could replace Heung-Min Son in the starting eleven. The South Korea international has been on a steady decline in recent seasons and it is clear that an upgrade is needed in that position.
Spurs replaced the 32-year-old with Mathys Tel earlier this year, but the Frenchman has also failed to make an instant impact at N17. However, it is clear that the 20-year-old has immense potential and still needs some time to adapt in the Premier League. Tel was effective in the latter stages of the season and that earned him a permanent deal to stay at Hotspur Way until 2031.
Tottenham need a new left-winger in the summer to get the ball rolling for next season. With Heung-Min Son facing a potential summer exit amid transfer links, Daniel Levy must make sure that a quality replacement is brought in to fill the attacking void left behind by the 32-year-old.
It was reported earlier that Spurs are interested in signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United in the summer. The England international has fallen out with Ruben Amorim at M16, and he looks destined to move to pastures new in the coming weeks. The Lilywhites have been long-term admirers of the 27-year-old and had also tried to sign him in January.
Now, Tottenham have received another update on the transfer saga involving the Man United star. As per The Telegraph, the Red Devils are willing to pay a portion of Rashford’s wages in an attempt to offload the 27-year-old in the coming weeks. The prolific winger is willing to take a pay-cut as well to seal the move away from Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen how Daniel Levy approaches this deal if Spurs are willing to gamble on the Manchester United star. With Barcelona also keen to land the 27-year-old, Tottenham will need to act quick and decide whether to move forward with the deal or not. The chance to play regularly in the Premier League under Thomas Frank might just lure Rashford to N17, but Barcelona’s worldwide appeal and an exciting team is something that is tough to reject.
