Manchester United submit bid to sign Orlando Gill

Orlando Gill is the subject of a new Manchester United bid as Michael Carrick continues reshaping his squad before the 2026/27 season.

United have already officially announced four additions during a busy summer window.

Andrey Santos arrived from Chelsea before the club activate Youri Tielemans’ release clause at Aston Villa.

Experienced goalkeeper Karl Darlow joined following his departure from Leeds United.

Most recently, young winger Tynan Thompson completed a move from Tottenham Hotspur.

However, United still have more work planned before the new campaign begins.

Earlier this week, reports claimed that the club had made initial contact over a possible move for Orlando Gill.

That interest has now reportedly developed into a financial proposal.

According to DSports Radio on X, Gill’s representative has confirmed receiving an offer from Manchester United worth close to the $8 million clause in his contract.

San Lorenzo have reportedly not received a formal proposal yet, but the Argentine club will assess the situation once it arrives.

Who is Orlando Gill?

Gill is a 26-year-old Paraguayan goalkeeper who currently plays for San Lorenzo in Argentina.

He attracted major attention during the 2026 World Cup after producing several outstanding performances for Paraguay.

His biggest moment came during the round-of-32 tie against Germany.

After the match finished level, Gill saved penalties from Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade as Paraguay secured a famous shootout victory.

He also made six saves during the 120 minutes and earned the Player of the Match award.

Those heroics helped Paraguay defeat a European nation in the knockout stages of a World Cup for the first time.

Gill eventually made 23 saves across five tournament appearances and kept two clean sheets before Paraguay’s campaign ended.

His commanding presence, shot-stopping and ability under pressure have since attracted interest from European clubs.

United already have Senne Lammens as their first-choice goalkeeper, while Darlow joined this summer.

Nevertheless, their reported bid suggests Carrick could be preparing for further changes within his goalkeeping department.
