United stand firm behind manager Ruben Amorim for the upcoming season

Despite the initial expectations and the millions invested in recent years, Manchester United closed the season with more doubts than certainties. The team failed to secure a place in the Champions League through the Premier League and their performance in the English top flight declined worryingly.

At the centre of this scenario was Rúben Amorim, who took over the bench with the promise of transforming the style of play and giving meaning to a squad that had been suffering from many irregularities. His arrival was greeted with enthusiasm, but the immediate impact was not as expected. Even so, within the club, the word ‘break-up’ is not being bandied about.

The board maintains its backing for Amorim, even after a league campaign marked by inconsistency. United’s top officials understand that the Portuguese coach inherited an unstable dressing room lacking a clear identity.

British sources like TalkSport, as relayed by Fichajes, claim that his tenure has never been in real question. The Europa League final berth has acted as a sporting and symbolic lifeline. They are confident that their idea, based on high pressing, advanced defence and building from the back, can be consolidated in time.

No fuel to the fire

In addition, the club plan to reinforce key areas of the pitch and allow him a smooth pre-season, which would be fundamental for fine-tuning mechanisms. It is perceived that his tenure, although still in the maturation phase, has left positive glimmers. Patience, they say from within, will be key to avoiding repeating recent mistakes, where each setback opened the way for changes on the bench. For now, Amorim stays, and hope is sustained.

From an analytical perspective, the decision seems logical and even necessary. To cut short a process that has only just begun, because of some bad results, would be to repeat old vices. Amorim has given structure to a group that previously seemed to be walking aimlessly. His commitment to Bruno Fernandes as a free-flowing midfielder has strengthened the captain.

More Manchester United news:

The inclusion of Mainoo as a fixed pivot has been a wise move, giving the midfield balance. The defence showed signs of solidity in important stretches in the Europa League thanks to the tactical work without the ball. His system, based on collective automatisms, needs continuity, not patches.

To sack him now would be to lose what has been achieved. United need consistency rather than an impulsive reaction. Amorim deserves a full season with signings adapted to his tactics. The club must close ranks and make a real commitment to the project. If not, they will remain a prisoner of their own chaos.

The football proposed by Amorim needs time to settle, and he has shown himself to be courageous and coherent, two qualities that are in short supply in many dugouts. The road will be long, but stopping before results are seen only guarantees setbacks. If United want stability, they have to sustain the manager. And if they do, we may be talking about a very different team in a year’s time.
