Manchester United tracking three La Liga right-backs amid doubts over Diogo Dalot

Manchester United are monitoring three right-backs in La Liga as they look to strengthen that position in the future.

Ruben Amorim’s system relies heavily on wing-backs, and the club addressed the left side earlier this year by signing Lecce prospect Patrick Dorgu.

On the right, Amad has been shifted into the role because of an overload of number 10s, while Noussair Mazraoui is also capable of playing as part of the back three.

The odd man out is former Porto defender Diogo Dalot, who has been at United since 2018. Dalot was called into action over the weekend with both Amad and Mazraoui unavailable, but his performance drew criticism for ball-watching on one of Brentford’s goals.

Given those issues, it’s no surprise Manchester United are exploring other options. They had previously shown interest in Geovany Quenda before his move to Chelsea.

Manchester United tracking three La Liga right-backs

According to transfer insider Graeme Bailey, Manchester United are keeping tabs on three potential right-back options.

One name on their radar is Jon Aramburu from Real Sociedad, who has also caught the eye of Manchester City.

Bailey mentions that Atletico Madrid’s Nahuel Molina and Espanyol’s Omar El Hilali are also being considered.

“United are not downplaying the fact they are considering other wing-back options in 2026, it is one to keep an eye on,” Bailey said. “It does not appear that Diogo Dalot has a long-term future, and if he goes then they clearly need more, and is the Amad experiment on the right working? I’m not sure.”

Molina is already an established international with 54 caps for Argentina and was part of their 2022 World Cup-winning squad. While it’s still early days in terms of any potential moves, right-back appears to be a position United are actively reviewing.
