Two underperforming sides meet today as Manchester United hosts Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial Premier League fixture.

Both managers are desperate for a positive result that can also serve as a turning point in their season after a not-so-perfect start, as Michael Carrick and Roberto De Zerbi both come under immense pressure after rallying their respective sides in the second half of last season.

This season, Carrick’s United side has managed to secure only one win so far, which came against Ipswich Town, and the Red Devils are coming off a 1-1 draw against 19th-ranked Fulham in their latest fixture.

An early exit from the Carabao Cup has only added more pressure on the side after an opening day loss against newly promoted Hull City and a defeat to ten-man Manchester City.

Spurs on the other hand languish at the bottom of the table with only a measly two points in five games.

Losses against Brentford, Newcastle and Aston Villa and a third round exit from the Carabao Cup have already brought a cloud of questions on De Zerbi’s future.

It was only in their last match against Villa that the Lilywhites opened their goalscoring account via Conor Gallagher and Jean Paul van Hecke.

Team News and Injuries

Carrick faces a selection dilemma post the international break as he is without the services of Benjamin Sesko and Patrick Dorgu.

While Sesko is managing a shin injury, Dorgu is expected to be out of action for weeks after suffering a hamstring injury during the break with Denmark.

Full back Noussair Mazraoui is also a major doubt while Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo are facing late fitness tests.

Spurs meanwhile are boosted by the return of Micky van de Ven & Jan Paul van Hecke after both sustained injuries with Netherlands.

Tottenham Hotspur:
