Manchester United’s next left-back signing is…

Manchester United’s left-back situation is one that the club look keen to address in this summer’s transfer window.

After Patrick Dorgu has moved into a more attacking role under Michael Carrick, Luke Shaw and Noussair Mazraoui remain as the club’s two options in left-back.

Saturday’s 4-2 defeat to AC Milan exposed a problem at left-back, however, with action expected to be taken in the coming weeks before the window slams shut.

The club could choose to pursue a number of options to solve the problem that currently exists at left-back, although it remains to be seen which move the club will pursue.

Lewis Hall

Lewis Hall is about to begin his fourth season at Newcastle United, having made 46 appearances for the Toon Army during the 2025/26 season.

The left-back has been increasingly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months and is currently appears to be the club’s number one option.

CentreDevils exclusively revealed that Manchester United had made contact with Lewis Hall’s representatives earlier this summer to discuss the possibility of a deal.

Further reports have suggested that the Red Devils are prepared to meet Newcastle’s asking price for Hall although an injury, that saw him miss training, could hinder any move.

With Premier League experience previously, at Newcastle and Chelsea, Lewis Hall could be playing for his third Premier League club in just a few weeks. Whether that happens will be uncovered in the coming weeks.

Jorge Salinas

Racing Santander left-back Jorge Salinas has emerged as an alternative to Lewis Hall in recent weeks.

The 19-year-old Spanish youth international made 33 LaLiga 2 appearances for Racing last season as the club were promoted to LaLiga.

He also won the Under-19s European Championships this summer with Spain, appearing in four games and contributing one goal and two assists.

United are not alone in their interest of the left-back with Newcastle United making their own approach ahead of Manchester United.

Racing Santander also appear reluctant to let the 19-year-old leave easily with reports suggesting that the LaLiga club want to keep him for at least one more season.

If Manchester United are unsuccessful in their pursuit of Lewis Hall, focus could switch towards Salinas. Time is running out in that decision, however, given that all clubs are in the late stages of the transfer window now.

Archie Brown

24-year-old Archie Brown, of Fenerbahce, made 25 Super Lig appearances last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Having joined Fenerbahce last summer, the Englishman could be on the move yet again this summer to Old Trafford.

Chelsea are set to challenge United in their pursuit, though, as the Blues aim to add Brown to their ranks in the remainder of this summer’s transfer window.

At 24, Brown still has time to grow. Whether Manchester United will be the place where he delves into that potential remains to be seen, however.
