Manchester United’s next left-winger is…

With the summer window fast approaching, change is already in the air at Old Trafford as Manchester United looking at potential left-wing signings.

Casemiro has confirmed his departure at the end of the season, while uncertainty continued to surround several attacking options as the club reshapes its squad.

Manchester United are expected to strengthen in wide areas, particularly on the left flank.

The lack of depth in that position has been evident following Alejandro Garnacho’s departure and the uncertainty surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future after his loan spell at Barcelona.

That raises the question: who will be Manchester United’s next left-winger?

Yan Diomande

The most advanced option at this stage appears to be Yan Diomande.

United have already made concrete moves behind the scenes, with reports suggesting a significant bid has been tabled as they look to win the race for the RB Leipzig winger.

At just 19, Diomande fits perfectly into United’s long-term vision.

He is explosive, directive, and thrives in one-versus-one situations, exactly the profile needed to stretch defences.

What stands out most is his acceleration over short distances and his willingness to take risks in the final third.

However, he is still raw.

His decision-making can fluctuate, and consistency will be key if he is to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.

Still, the ceiling is extremely high.

Yan Diomande has already built chemistry with Manchester United’s right-winger Amad Diallo from Ivory Coast’s most recent AFCON campaign.

Iliman Ndiaye

Another name under serious consideration is Iliman Ndiaye.

The Everton forward offers a very different profile.

He is more unpredictable in tight spaces, capable of drifting centrally and linking play, while still carrying a threat from wide areas.

Technically, he is one of the most secure ball carriers in the league.

However, many have identified the Senegal international as a very similar profile to United’s summer signing Matheus Cunha.

He can receive under pressure, turn quickly, and progress play through congested areas.

That trait is invaluable against low blocks.

The downside is his output.

While effective, he is not yet a consistent double-digit goal contributor, something the Red Devils may prioritise.

Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon remains one of the most Premier League-proven options available.

United have tracked him for some time, but competition is fierce.

Arsenal are currently leading the race, and Newcastle United would demand a significant fee.

Gordon brings intensity, relentless pressing, and direct running.

He thrives in transition and is particularly dangerous when attacking space in behind.

His end product has improved significantly, but his game still relies heavily on momentum and system fit.

In the right setup, he could explode.

Other options

There are also internal and alternative solutions.

Marcus Rashford could still return if Barcelona fail to make his move permanent after the £30m clause deadline passed.

Patrick Dorgu is another intriguing option, having already been used on the left wing under Michael Carrick, scoring against Manchester City and producing a stunning goal against Arsenal.

Both remain realistic options.

Ultimately, the decision will come down to direction.

But the need is clear.

The left wing must be addressed.
