Manchester United seeking to swap Jadon Sancho for West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus

Manchester United endured a disappointing campaign and will require significant reinforcements heading into the 2024/25 season. The rebuild is now underway under the guidance of new manager Rúben Amorim. One of United’s early targets was Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, with plans to include Jadon Sancho in a potential swap deal to clear space and balance the books. However, according to Caught Offside, the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement on the exchange, making a deal unlikely at this stage.

Sancho’s loan spell at Chelsea went better than expected, but despite his contributions, the club has opted not to pursue a permanent deal. As he returns to Manchester United, his future remains uncertain, with little indication that he features in Rúben Amorim’s long-term plans. The Red Devils had explored using Sancho as part of a swap deal to bring in Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, a move that might have reignited the 25-year-old’s career, but those negotiations ultimately fell through.

Meanwhile, Kudus himself is attracting interest from top clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal, while several Saudi Pro League teams have reportedly made approaches. However, the Ghanaian midfielder is believed to prefer staying in Europe. Sancho, too, has drawn attention from Saudi clubs, but no clear direction has emerged for his next move.

Once regarded as one of English football’s brightest prospects, Sancho may still find Premier League suitors willing to take a chance on him. Despite a modest return of 15 goal involvements in 41 appearances for Chelsea this season, his performances showed glimpses of the quality that once made him a marquee signing. A fresh start could still unlock his potential, but time is running out for that to happen in England.

Manchester United have started the summer with a flurry of transfer activity, and they’re far from done. With Matheus Cunha already secured and negotiations for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo well advanced, the club has now set its sights on Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian playmaker could be a key addition, especially as several departures from Old Trafford are anticipated in the coming weeks. As Rúben Amorim reshapes the squad, Kudus would bring versatility, creativity, and much-needed attacking depth.

While Manchester United’s disastrous 2024-25 season has drawn criticism toward both players and the manager, the blame doesn’t rest solely on their shoulders. A club’s success also depends on the support system it provides for its players and their families, an area where United have reportedly fallen short.

Although next season appears more promising on paper, nothing is guaranteed. The club may be closing in on two attacking signings, but more pressing issues remain, particularly in the goalkeeping department, which must be addressed urgently if United are to mount a serious comeback.
