Manu Kone to 'join Manchester United'

Manu Kone will be a name familiar to many people within English football.

It was just a couple of years ago that the French midfielder was heavily linked to Liverpool Football Club.

Kone and Khephren Thuram were two names that were heavily muted to be moving to Anfield, but nothing came of it in the end.

Instead, Manu Kone joined Roma in 2024 on an initial season long loan, before completing a permanent move at the beginning of this season.

The 24-year-old French midfielder had swapped Germany, where he played for Borussia Monchengladbach, and has become an indispensable player in Rome.

Kone has played every single minute of the current Serie A campaign and helped Roma to fourth place in the table.

Roma are actually only 3 points behind leaders Inter Milan is what is turning out to be one of the most intense league races in Serie A history.

And it seems that the form and performances of Manu Kone have garnered attention further afield.

Enter Manchester United.

Many people are aware of the need for midfield reinforcements at Old Trafford.

It’s already believed that a shortlist of midfield targets for Manchester United have been drawn up.

Up until now, that list has mainly contained players based in England and playing in the English Premier League.

New information seems to suggest that a new name is going to be joining the club instead.

Journalist Francesca Teodori has stated that Manchester United will sign Manu Kone next summer.

Speaking on ASRomaLive’s Twitch channel, Teodori reported what she’d heard.

“It’s not news, but it’s a fairly credible rumour.

“I’ve been told by multiple sources that he’ll leave Roma in June and join Manchester United”.

Roma have, of course, been linked with Joshua Zirkzee.

And Teodori addressed the possibility in a potential swap deal between the clubs.

“I don’t know if this has anything to do with the Zirkzee deal.

“He might have been included as a sort of counterpart.

“This remains to be seen, but what’s certain is that Kone is very keen on the destination and it looks like he could join United in June”.

It certainly seems that Francesca Teodori is extremely confident that Manu Kone will be moving to Manchester United in the summer.

All eyes will turn to see if any other sources or journalists back this claim up in the coming days.
