Back in summer 2024, Manuel Ugarte arrived at Old Trafford from PSG, however has failed to really establish himself into the Manchester United side since.
His arrival under Erik ten Hag marked the start of a midfield rebuild, however, the Uguruay international has fallen further down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.
This season, the 24-year-old has only made 13 appearances, racking up a total of 522 minutes, averaging at 40 minutes per game.
Now, with limited game-time being given to him, as Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro make up the favoured pair, Ugarte could be set to leave Old Trafford.
Turkish publication Turkiye, as relayed by Fotomac, has reported that Galatasaray are looking to the 24-year-old for a loan spell in Istanbul this January.
It’s understood that within the loan agreement, there would be a £22 million (€25 million) option to buy clause should the Turkish side be impressed with his loan.
The Super Lig side have contacted the Red Devils over his availability, with his departure unlikely to cause any real issues, given his limited role in the side.
Whilst Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes are currently out injured, Jack and Tyler Fletcher have been brought into the senior squad as potential, with Toby Collyer also being recalled from his loan with West Brom.
As such, the Uruguay international could be set to follow problematic goalkeeper Andre Onana to Turkey, as the shot-stopper joined Trabzonspor on loan in the summer.
However, they aren’t the only side interested, in Manuel Ugarte, as Lyon and Napoli are also monitoring the struggling midfielder.
In the meantime, Galatasaray are hoping to use his links with goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and midfielder Lucas Torreira through the Uruguay international squad, to try and lure him to Istanbul.
