Marc Casado nears Barcelona exit amid Manchester United links

Marc Casado has been linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old midfielder, of Barcelona, made 24 appearances for Barcelona in LaLiga last season, providing one assist, as the club won the league title for the second consecutive time.

In the 2024/25 season, on the other hand, he made 23 league appearances for Barça.

Links between Manchester United and the Spanish midfielder initially emerged in the late stages of 2024 with the club targeting a move.

Further links were made during last summer’s transfer window, too, whilst United were even reported to have made an approach during this year’s winter transfer window.

Earlier this year, in February, the chances of a deal increased, too, with reports suggesting that Barcelona were open to selling the midfielder.

Now, amid continuing speculation about the 22-year-old’s future, journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that the Spaniard is set to leave Barcelona in the coming days with offers currently being assessed.

Romano also stated that Marc Casado is not travelling for any of Barça’s pre-season matches.

With the 22-year-old set to leave Barcelona, there is a chance for Manchester United to make a move and secure a deal.

Casado is not the only midfielder that United have been linked with this summer, however, with other possible deals still on the table for the club to consider.

Manchester United have already added to their midfield this summer, signing Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.

Manu Kone has also been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford whilst Aurelien Tchouameni has been named too.

With the transfer window now in its final few weeks, the Red Devils face a question of choice, a pick that must be selected before the end of the window if the club are to sign another midfielder.
