According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Milan left-back Theo Hernandez offered his services to Real Madrid, but the club would prefer Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras instead.
There had been suggestions in recent weeks that Theo Hernandez was a target for the Merengues, which would represent a return to the side that he left for Milan.
However, Marca today insist that the interest was largely one-sided, in that the player had tried to push himself onto the Real Madrid wish-list.
Instead, the Spanish giants are looking to 22-year-old Alvaro Carreras, who spent time in the Manchester United academy and was sold to Benfica for €6m last summer.
As part of that deal, Manchester United have first refusal on his future sale until December 31, but there is a €50m release clause in his contract.
Theo Hernandez is increasingly unlikely to remain at Milan, because his contract will expire in June 2026 and negotiations for an extension have hit problems.
With the Coppa Italia Final defeat to Bologna last night, it also means that they may well not even qualify for the Europa League, further reducing the budget.
