Marcelo Saracchi is worthy of a start ahead of Kieran Tierney at left back or perhaps both will start in the 3-5-2 system Brendan Rodgers used in the second half against Sporting Braga in the Europa League on Thursday night…

Kieran Tierney is a superb and valuable addition to the squad that’s not in question, but since his sensational return over the summer, it would be fair to say that he’s not anything like the player that left for Arsenal six years earlier.

He’s had his injury concerns to be fair, and is just getting back on track after suffering from a serious injury last year, but he’s just not the same KT we all know and love. Hopefully it’s just a temporary set back and the more game time he gets the form will come back, but at the moment, it’s just not happening for KT.

It also has to be pointed out that Greg Taylor was heckled on a regular basis for much less and he’s been a bigger miss that has so far been pointed out with the focus being on the midfield and front line under-performing. Taylor’s absence has a role to play in both of these problem areas in the current Celtic team as Brendan Rodgers goes through his worst run of form in his two spells in charge of Celtic.

One man who will be feeling aggrieved at sitting on the sidelines is Marcelo Saracchi, who can count himself unlucky to be constantly overlooked for the left back berth but may now have better luck with the formation change we saw the other night. 3-5-2 clearly worked better than the slate 4-3-3 that has failed to click this season with Celtic having five matches without scoring a goal and being low scorers in the other games.

The Uruguayan has looked very impressive in his short stint at the club, and very much looks like the real deal at the left full back or left wing back positions. Going forward, defending, physicality, the former Leipzig man has it all in his locker.

Will Brendan give the Uruguayan a well earned regular start at the expense of our homecoming hero in his 4-3- 3 or will we see a 3-5-2 tomorrow which I reckon most fans would prefer. Something after all has to change and Brendan as he said post match on Thursday night, has the responsibility as Celtic manager to find the solutions.

KT in the back three and Marcelo Saracchi might be one of the changes we’ll see tomorrow. If not that it should be Saracchi at left back in the usual 4-3-3.
