Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United is once again under the spotlight, amid renewed interest from several clubs – with Barcelona said to be among the suitors eyeing the England international.
The 27-year-old returned to United on 1 July after completing a loan spell at Aston Villa, who passed on the £40m option to sign him permanently following his January move.
While at Villa Park, Rashford managed to get his career back on track and even earned a recall to the England squad under Unai Emery.
He had moved away from Old Trafford for the second half of the 2024-25 season after losing his spot in United’s starting line-up.
Manager Ruben Amorim has made it clear that Rashford isn’t part of his plans going forward and is looking to move him on this summer.
Despite impressing during his spell with the Villans, Rashford is out of the squad for the pre-season and has since been seen working on his own at Carrington, with his future at the club still up in the air.
Rashford’s contract runs until 2028, and reports suggest United are looking for a £40m transfer fee to let him go.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona aren’t the only club interested in Rashford, with Saudi Arabian sides also making their presence felt.
The publication says several Saudi teams are now prepared to move ahead of Barcelona to secure his signature this summer.
One club from Saudi Arabia is said to have already submitted a “very important offer” worth around €40 (£34m) for Rashford, matching United’s asking price.
Mundo Deportivo claims Rashford has turned down a move to Saudi Arabia, having rejected an offer from the unnamed club in the region.
The report goes on to say that Rashford is still holding out for a move to Barcelona, who have been heavily linked with him throughout the summer window.
Rashford has made no secret of his desire to join the Catalan side, and they could now come back into the picture after missing out on Athletic Club winger Nico Williams.
It’s understood that Rashford is prepared to lower his wage demands to make a deal happen, prioritising the switch over financial terms.
The reported structure of the deal could see Barcelona take Rashford on loan with an option to buy valued between €30m and €40m, providing a potential path forward for both clubs.
